The ascendance of white Christian nationalism in contemporary America poses imminent danger to democracy but also a steep challenge to American Christians, argues Carter Heyward, one of America's most prophetic religious and moral voices.

Heyward's belief is that skeptics rightly see the liberal church to be too often colluding with white Christian nationalism.
